Seniors - health & safety, caretaker support, recreation, transportation

Though our population has been decreasing (even as people from Ingham County vacate the urban areas), demographers show a continuing increase in the percent of seniors living in Clinton County. (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/26/26037.html)

Services for seniors and support for their caregivers should be a priority to government officials.

Ask your elected officials about his stand on healthcare for seniors and their caretakers, home care & assisted living subsidies (which typically cost less than nursing home care), senior and disabled transportation services, and attracting medical providers to rural areas.

For our senior veterans, ask your U.S. Representative Mike Rogers versus Senators Stabenow and Levin how they have voted on Veterans Benefits. Unfortunately, though Republicans repeatedly approve defense budgets, they focus on equipment and logistics while neglecting and even cutting post-war costs such as education/training, counseling, rehabilitative and long-term care.
